Absolutely, we prefer to! We want to make sure we are the right fit for your day so we can capture everything in a way that you'll resonate with. If we don’t get along well, then no one is going to be having much fun.
We will hold your date tentatively until you are ready to make a deposit, and will give you 48 hours to lock in if we receive another inquiry for your date. The deposit/retainer fee is 30% and non-refundable – this is due to securing a future date which means we are closing off our books to any other inquiries. Along with a Deposit Invoice, we will email you a Questionnaire and an Agreement to complete, sign and return. The balance is due one week prior to the wedding. If you have a small budget but don't want to miss out on some kickass wedding photos, send us an email to inquire about payment plan options and custom quotes!
We get this all the time and many of our clients choose us for this reason. We want to keep you feeling relaxed and comfortable – the best photos come from genuine moments, not staged ones. We aim to document your day as it happens, offering direction as needed but always encouraging authentic interactions above all else – we have some little tricks and prompts to help with this, and we often get couples telling us that they forgot we were there taking photos altogether. Of course some moments will feel posed, such as family portraits, but for the majority of the day you wont be forced to re-live those awkward poses from your high school prom.
This question is one of the most frequently asked of the frequently asked (wait what) - you can feel free to follow up with us for more information and to talk specifics with your schedule for the day. Generally speaking, late afternoon light is our favourite, especially the last hour before sunset (the Golden Hour) – it’s flattering, dreamy and just downright fun to shoot in. Just after sunset you also get Blue Hour (which is actually only 20 mins, go figure) which can also be perfect for those moody, dramatic shots. As for the weather - sometimes it can rain on your (black) parade, but rest assured that we have shot in ALL kinds of weather and will constantly be seeking the best light, shade, shelter, etc for your photos while you enjoy the party. If we location scout before the day, we’ll always have some spots in mind if it happens to rain, or we can work with it as rain can make for some beautiful moody photos. If it’s overcast on your wedding day, you should be as stoked as we are – it’s the best possible scenario for day time photos due to the even, flattering light! If you are planning a winter wedding, I would suggest getting your hands on some clear umbrellas as well. If you’re in Melbourne I can supply a couple, but I am not always available to supply these if I am travelling for your day.
You’ll get sneak peeks within 48 hours of your wedding, and the whole gallery will be finalised in approximately 8 weeks (before delivery) however this can vary with peak season and life in general, but we will always keep you in the loop!
Absolutely – We will often spend hours on Google maps narrowing down a list of nearby photo spots. We will also go for a drive around to location scout your venues if we're not familiar with the area!
We sure do! We own a swanky professional photo printer and use high quality Ilford and Canson fine art papers – we LOVE doing our own prints, and having that complete control over the process is very important to us. We also offer fine art albums which are completely custom designed (no templates here!) printed on gorgeous thick pages with a lay flat design, and made by hand using traditional bookbinding techniques. Pricing starts at $1,163 for a 10x10, 10 spread album. (Psst.. this is included in our Ohio Is For Lovers Package)
Tay has photographed weddings without a voice and with a fracture in her foot, and wouldn’t shy at adding some more to that list! In the situation that our lead shooter Tay is unwell/injured but still functioning, she will employ an assistant and/or second shooter (which will be Pete if you have a one photographer package, or another assistant if you have both of us!) to help out and ensure that your day is covered (at no additional cost to you, of course) If Tay is staring down deaths door, or a stupid pandemic ruins travel and we are unable to fulfill our duties as your photographer/s, we will make every effort to seek a trusted industry friend to shoot on our behalf, then we will still edit the images. We have a network of amazing photographers who are always ready to step in last minute, but if it comes to it and we can’t secure a replacement, you will receive a full refund (hell would have to freeze over before we let this happen!) As for instances such as COVID where you may need to postpone, we offer reschedules with no additional fees, but if we're not available on your new date you will forfeit your retainer 🙁
